Album 5 – Rostam
Heroic labors, divine intervention, and personal endurance
The Mountain Mother — Rudabeh labors past the edge of what her body can bear, and Zal, desperate, calls the Simurgh for a miracle no midwife has ever performed. Rostam arrives through blood and wonder both — legend, before he's drawn a single breath.
Born of Flame — He is too large, too fierce, too early himself for an ordinary childhood. Even asleep in his cradle, Rostam already looks like something the world will have to reckon with.
The Call of the Khan — King Kavus is struck blind by demons and the court freezes in panic, no one willing to move first. Rostam answers before the fear finishes speaking, and the road of the Seven Labors opens beneath his feet.
The Desert of Sleep — There is no enemy here, only endless sand, cruel mirages, and a thirst that whispers louder than reason. Rostam's true first battle is against his own closing eyes.
The Lion's Shadow — While Rostam sleeps, a lion creeps toward him in the dark, and Rakhsh meets it alone, unseen, unthanked. He wakes to scold the horse for a fight he never knew was fought to save him.
The Enchanted Feast — A table appears in the wasteland, laden and glowing, demon-set and honey-sweet — every temptation dressed as mercy. Rostam eats caution instead, and the spell shatters like glass around him.
The Demon's Throne — Div-e Sepid waits in the dark, and the fight that follows is less battle than reckoning — brute against brute, until only one throat still draws breath. From the demon's own blood, Rostam wrings the cure for a king's stolen sight.
The Crown in Chains — The king sees again, the army goes free, and Rostam simply turns and rides home, asking for nothing. The truest heroes, it turns out, leave before the applause even starts.
